Wedding Favors Etiquette

Wedding favors are a staple at every wedding occasion. These are souvenirs handed over to guests at the reception or before they leave. However, one cannot just give away any favor. There are etiquettes or standard protocols on wedding favor-giving that should be followed. So, if your wedding is coming up and you have already started with the preparations, make sure that you follow these etiquettes in order for your guests to be pleased and happy once they get home from your wedding.

The first thing you should consider is the type of wedding favor that you will order. If you want to play safe, you should stick with the traditional wedding favors such as figurines, paperweights, and other things that can be displayed. On the other hand, if you want your wedding to be more memorable, you should choose favors that would stand out. Choose unique items or personalize classic favors. You may also consider making your own favors if you want to add a personal touch to them.

See to it that the favors match the theme of your wedding. You should choose designs and colors that will blend well with the rest of the items in your wedding and reception venues. If you plan to give away baked goods, you should choose wrappers and containers that will match your table décor. You can also use ribbons that match your wedding day palette. Then, you should consider the amount of favors that you need. Check the RSVPs and determine how many guests are going to arrive. Be sure to have extra favors for unexpected guests.

If you want to reduce costs, you may consider giving favors to every couple instead of every person. This, however, only applies to actual couples. You can give them picture frames, board games, and other things in pairs. It is ideal to place these favors between their seats or dinner plates. Do not forget to include a card with their names on it so that they will know that the favor is for both of them. Then again, you should not forget that there are also single people invited. So, make sure that you also give them the appropriate favors.

Timing is crucial, as well. You will not be able to determine when some of your guests will leave, so make sure that you give them the favors as soon as possible. It is ideal to place the wedding favors on the tables as part of the décor. After the reception, the guests can simply pick the favors and take them home. You may also pass the favors out to guests as they leave the reception. If you are too busy and cannot do this personally, you may have the doorman or coatroom attendant do it for you.

Your favors will remind your guests of the fun they had during your wedding. Hence, it is very important to choose the right favors. See to it that you weigh the pros and cons of every wedding favor that you consider.
