Is your dream to have a beach themed destination wedding? Well, once the parents here about this, many are not too pleased. They want you to have a traditional type wedding so all family and friends can be invited. At a destination wedding the budget may not be there for many guests and will not be able to attend.

If you have decided to forgo this dream and hold your reception in your hometown then don't worry because we can bring the beach theme party to you.

You can have a lot of fun with the invitations that represent a beach theme. Look for colors of the sky, sea and palm trees. You could even ask your guests to dress in island wear!

Tips for Trying on Wedding Dresses

One of the biggest moments of your wedding is selecting your wedding dress. All brides can't wait to go dress shopping and find that perfect dress just suited for them. Here are a few shopping tips that can help you along the way.

Don't do it alone. Always take someone from the bridal party, close friend or your mom with you. Receiving opinions on the style and type of dresses you try on from your trusted family and friends is not only important but helps relieve a bit of the stress. Don't take an entourage with you though as so many different opinions will make it even more confusing for you to choose.

Never wear makeup or lipstick. The dresses are mainly white and some may be difficult to get into. The last thing you want is to have red lipstick, mascara or foundation on them. What if you find the "one" but it had a makeup spot. Sure things can be cleaned but you want that dress to be perfect. It's also just being considerate for the next bride who tries on that gown.

Don't forget your undergarments. Always wear or bring with you a strapless bra or corset in your correct size. If you happen to have the shoes or jewelery picked out bring that along as well so you can see how everything flows. If you are wearing your hair up for the wedding then put it up when trying on the dresses.

Buying the dress. This is a bit tricky. Some brides will put a dress on and know this is the one and will purchase it immediately while others will shop from store to store, and go on-line to make sure they have scouted out many different designs and styles. I do hear that many brides always go back to the first dress they tried on. Don't put too much pressure on yourself by trying dresses on for months. I promise you will know when you find the "perfect one". Once you put it on it will just feel right.

Size of the Dress: You should buy a dress that it a little big for you and can be altered. If the dress is purchased a year before the wedding remember that your weight may fluctuate during this time frame especially with a little added stress that comes with planning a wedding.

These suggestions are designed to help you along the way. Hopefully this will be the only time you will purchase and wear a wedding dress so have fun. You are going to look and feel like a princess on your wedding day and as you make that walk down the aisle your prince charming will be waiting!

My Second Time in Sydney ;-)

Being a Fashion Designer is 90% hardwork, 10% glamour, and 100% FUN!!!!! ;-)

Few weeks ago, I got another chance to fly to Sydney, all-expense paid by super generous clients ;-) They paid my air fare tickets and hotel accommodation for 7 days!!!!! ;-) Since all of them are based there, the bride asked me to just go there instead. What a great idea! ;-) *wink* THANK YOU!

I had so much fun! SUPER!!!! It's kinda sad because I really liked to extend hahaha, but I had plenty of works to do in Manila. However, it was a very productive trip. I met my lovely clients, attended a beautiful wedding, partied with friends, and simply enjoyed the beautiful city. I went to Bondi beach, saw the famous Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, super party in Oxford street till 9am, and lots of eating, eating, and eating!!!!! hahaha.. I loveeeeeee my job! ;-)

London Calling

It has been confirmed that Veejay Floresca is headed to the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design this August. The 26-year old fashion designer, whose silhouettes have been referred to as romantic and feminine, will be taking a course on Vintage Fashion Bridalwear over the summer at the same school attended by notable fashion designers like Stella McCartney, the late Alexander McQueen as well as our very own Mich Dulce. "It's a two week intensive program that focuses on corsets, appliqué, various fabrications and sewing techniques specializing in bridalwear," the designer shares.

Selecting CSM was an easy decision for him as he refers to it as his 'dream school', saying, "I'm really excited about this upcoming trip to London because it's the perfect city for aspiring young designers like myself. Not only is the atmosphere energetic, being at CSM will also give me the opportunity to learn and elevate my work but at the same time, allow me to meet and get to know other designers from all over the world."

After being proclaimed as the Best Up and Coming Designer at the recently concluded Fashion Asia Awards in China, Veejay is far from resting on his laurels. He knows the value of a good education, which is something he learned from his parents. "I am truly blessed. Having had the experience of working with different people on a daily basis significantly contributed to what I know [about fashion]. But I am still very young and there is so much more to learn. Bridal is something I want to focus on right now since a lot of clients have been asking me to make them something special for their big day. I really want to give these soon-to-be brides the best, knowing that their wedding is one of the most important events of their lives," he stresses.

He also mentions that he couldn't have done it without the continued encouragement of his friends and family. "I won't be at the position I'm at right now if not for the people who have supported me from the start," he declares. "My decision to leave and study again is a long term goal, and upon my return, I am confident that everything that I learn will not only be applied to my work, but will also be something that I can share with future designers as well."

If things turns out according to plan, Floresca hopes to take his Masters at CSM next year, and looks forward to representing the country. "Who knows, I might just end up showing my graduation collection during London Fashion Week and showcase our natural fabrics at its very best," he says with pride.

With the passion and determination Veejay has for his craft and for the local fashion industry, we are confident that this is just the beginning of bigger things to come.

Love Notes: Caitlin & Matt's Wedding

So excited to post Caitlin + Matt's Wedding! Also so glad that it got featured by Style Me Pretty yesterday, always an honor to be among all of the swoon worthy weddings they post!

We always find inspiration from within our couples and in Caitlin & Matt's case, we could not help but create a hopelessly romantic wedding for the two! Caitlin is a Texas girl with traditional roots, so we knew from the get go that her wedding had to be sweet but also have a punch of fun.

She is definitely a romantic at heart with a sentimental side, which we wanted to highlight and share with her guests! With these ideas in mind, we formulated the concept of a Love Letters/Notes wedding.

The ceremony took place on the croquet lawn among a backdrop of sunny blues skies and hot air balloons. Vintage sheet music was fashioned into petal cones that hung from the sides of chairs for guests to toss as the happy couple walked by.

From the moment guests arrived at Rancho Valencia they were greeted with the couples' fondness of love letters. The sign-in table had a mailbox perched atop sprawling moss and loose flowers, where guests left "love notes" on the back of postcards for the couple. Paper elements on the mailbox read "Signed, Sealed, Delivered, which evoked memories of vintage love letters.

Elizabethan Bakery made the most scrumptious mini cupcakes in various flavors, such as lemon drop, plain jane, and rosie's red velvet. We placed all of the minis on to adorable cupcake stands in varying heights and shades of blues and greens. The display was just as cute as it was delicious!

Even though we wanted the wedding to be as romantic as possible, we also wanted it to reflect Caitlin & Matt's fun and outgoing personalities. This sense of playfulness was brought in by the color scheme. We combined pale peach tones & soft pinks with vibrant aqua and Kelly green, the bride's favorite color, to achieve the sweet yet sunny look. Which is exactly how you would describe Caitlin : )

Escort cards were pretty mini postcards, that led to tables which were all named after romantic love letter endings and salutations, such as "All of my love" and "Yours forever."

Tall pillar candles offered ambiance and danced among the moss and succulent lined tables that held the beautiful floral arrangements made up of garden roses, tuberose, dahlias, stock, and hydrangea. Which were arranged by Twigg Botanicals!

Once at their seats, guests were surprised to find gorgeous custom made stationary sets as their favors. The sets were enclosed brown paper boxes with assorted vintage stamps. These as well as all of the other to die for paper elements were fashioned by our fave, Brightly Designed.

After hours of dancing, the romantic evening came to a close with a sparkler send off, which was captured perfectly by Jona and Jerry from Forever Photography!Thanks so much for sharing these photos with us and congratulations Caitlin & Matt, we're sending you all of our love!
