Dramatic Spanish Style For Weddings

As many of our clients wish to incorporate an element of Spain into their weddings here, we are constantly looking for Spanish style inspirations to add touches of Spain's wonderful and dramatic culture into our weddings and parties.

We love this fabulous shoot featured on Wedluxe using a stunning combination of black lace, red roses and golds, it reminds me of the beautiful churches we have here adorned with gold candelabras and candles.

We have been working very hard here this winter and many of our weddings coming up this year have some beautifully designed styling and details.

We have one in Sevilla that is going to be stunning and we will feature sneak peeks as we build up to the big day, our gorgeous vintage fan invitations are winging their way to London as I type :)

We have a Sevillian orange rustic style wedding, fabulous vintage style lace weddings and the rest of our designs are currently well kept secrets as we reveal some stunning new ideas throughout 2012!

New Ruche Pastel Wedding Collection

We felt this was too exciting not to share and thanks to Green Wedding Shoes for introducing Ruche's new wedding collection which is being launched on the 19th March.

We are already an avid fan of their clothes and accessories and are delighted that Ruche are now creating vintage, feminine wedding and bridesmaids dresses with a focus on embroidery and intricate detailing.

We are in love the pastels and neutrals, a huge fashion statement this year mixed with metallics and even more amazing are the prices with wedding dresses below $500 and bridesmaids retailing at around $100.

All brides must pop over and take a sneak peek at Green Wedding Shoes and in the meantime we have about 4 more sleeps until this gorgeous new collection is launched.

I have no doubt we will see many more gorgeous photos and will share these with you.

Can you overdecorate a wedding?

Taste and style are commodoties that people desire and certainly when it comes to decorating your wedding day this is important, so are some weddings overdecorated?

We recently had this experience with one of our clients which we would like to share.

Our client had booked her stunning wedding, set in beautiful grounds with a fabulous pool, very Moorish styling, a gorgeous marquee and yet she wanted the marquee dressed with white tissue paper pom poms?

We have seen the craze of tissue pom poms and they are lovely for a baby shower and look fabulous in our local cake shop but for a super stylish wedding, sorry no!

I had to get bossy and take charge at this point and steer our client to much more tasteful styling of her wedding which thank goodness she agreed with instantly which of course is why she hired us.

She ended up with a beautifully styled evening using lots of candles, white chill out areas and it was all very tastefully decorated.

I was so relieved she had accepted my advice as I did have a sleepless night wondering how best to approach this subject!

I am sure our clients were relieved too, as the decorations I suggested were not appropriate to her wedding style were almost another 1000 euros which I immediately wiped off their quote, but I could not bear the thought of cheap wedding decorations in such a stylish setting!

I am not knocking this pom pom craze, last year at one of our weddings we used them but it suited the venue as it was a funky, fun wedding with lots of bright colours so we were able to use them and it worked.

However, we have seen a few weddings posted this year and it looks more like a children´s playground with an In the Night Garden feel to it. I think the pom poms are now on their way out unless they are super stylish silver or gold ones but not the cheap tissue paper ones unless you wish to use them for a baby shower or a cake shop decoration.

Less is more is what I tell all my clients, concentrate on the lovely details, the personal touches, thanking your guests for coming, the stationery, how things are set out on the day from the cocktail sticks to the tablescapes.

Make your wedding personal and stamp your style on it, don´t try to overdress your venue.

Unless you have a super large budget keep it elegant and simple otherwise you will spoil what could be a very beautiful wedding into a cheap decoration showground, if you don´t like it don´t use it.

You should have seen my face earlier this year when I was presented with different bags of foil confetti for each table, I had gold top hats for one table, purple hearts for another, silver stars the list was endless, I nearly died!

Don´t do it unless you really have to! If it is not stylish or tasteful then leave it out.

Creating a wedding here in Spain is all about being outside, Mamma Mia twinkling lights always spring to mind for me and keep it simple and elegant as you are in such beautiful surroudings.

Old Friends become New Friends Wedding!

Well what can I say about this beautiful couple, Sue and Gunther, well actually I could say a lot!

Sue loves chocolate and Gunther is a charming and by all accounts a good dancer!

When Sue first emailed me about her wedding here in Spain we had a few rather strange co-oindences, the first one that she lived in Camberley where I grew up and secondly and even more bizzarly was that her H2B, Gunther, had worked with Anoulka, my assistant, as a dancer years ago so along with our joint love of chocolate and cakes the relationship was off to a head start for this beautiful wedding :)

Sue already had most things planned out and was lucky to have her sister living here so life became much easier planning a wedding abroad, but she wanted a very simple and elegant fresh white and green slightly vintage style wedding.

We used dreamy white hydrangeas mixed with fresh green viburnums and the effect was stunning along with Sue´s beautiful birdcages, hearts, napkins rings and candles it really was a beautiful table design and we loved it.

Sue and Gunther got married at the prettiest church, La Virginia, here in Marbella and had their reception at the Hacienda San Jose.

Our thanks to Talia at Thoroughly Gorgeous for these stunning photos of a beautiful couple and our thanks to Sue and Gunther for contacting us and becoming such good friends and of course reaquainting themselves with old friends, we look forward to seeing you both in September for a cocktail and chocolate :) Fi if you want to replicate the cakes for September we would all be highly delighted!

New Wedding Stationery Range from Reviva Weddings

We are very excited to launch our new wedding stationery range, which has been designed in particular with our weddings in mind, by our hugely talented Anoulka.

Anoulka is part of our design and decoration team and is a hugely creative and talented person, who I nearly let slip through the net!

Thank goodness I didn't, as Anoulka contacted me last year and nagged me stupid to let her do a trial day, the rest is history and Anoulka is now well and truly integrated as part of the Reviva wedding team.

We have been working on a range of stationery, over the winter, to compliment our fabulous designs and weddings, currently we have my favourite, the Bali nights, our very stylish Moroccan range, the romantic Midsummer night garden collection that we specifically created for one of our brides here, and the range will continue to be developed over the next few months.

Some other ranges we are also working on at the moment, again in particular for some of our weddings this year, are a spanish flamenco fan theme which is very pretty with fan shaped menus and our new vintage candle and lantern range.

All the themes offer Save the Dates, Invitations, Order of Service, Table Seating Plans, Placecards, Tags, Menus, Welcome Gift Bag Messages, anything you feel you need to compliment your complete stationery requirements for your wedding.

We can personalise your stationery with a beautiful range of ribbons, diamante and embellishments and please do watch this space as we introduce our new ranges into the collection.

If you would like more information please do contact us or visit Anoulka's brand new website which is still under some construction, to see more of this very exciting new stationery range available now for your wedding, which we feel is very different :)

If you have a particular design you would like made up for your wedding here please do let us know or we can match to your existing stationery if you wish to continue your theme here for your table seating plans, placecards, etc and we do offer a service to organise your guest list and send out the stationery for you.

Soft Romantic Inspiration Board

I realised tonight I had lots of lovely photos hoarded in my blog file here which were all soft romantic images, so I have just made up a quick mood board of them all to share with you.
I will have to add the credits in the morning for all the talented people I have been stalking but slightly tired now and off to bed :)!

Elegant Sophistication in a Stunning Sevillian Setting

Patience, patience, I know I nag the photographers until they must dread the site of my email address and glaze over, but I was so excited about receiving these stunning photos from Jeremy of the most beautiful wedding we created here in September at the charming Hacienda San Rafael in Seville

Imogen was a delight to work with as she knew exactly what she wanted and after a few consultations in the shop, with flower samples checked for colours and lots of lovely swatches of fabrics and lace we were ready to create Imogen's special day.

Due to the Hacienda being located near Sevilla and a 2 hour drive away, we were not able to leave the coast as we were so busy, so after some detailed preparations and schedules in place we were able to create Imogen's wedding from afar!

The lantern and candles were already at the venue from a wedding the week before (which was good timing) and the utterly charming owner, Anthony, insisted on helping us by watching where everything had been placed and getting his staff to painstakingly reinstall everything again for the following weekend.  I have never met such a helpful venue and they were a joy to work with.

Jeremy, bless him, was then put in charge of taking all the flowers to the venue, so meeting on route, we carefully transferred all the flowers to his car!  A nail biting moment until I heard that everything had arrived safely and in one piece so another big thank you to Jeremy for being our courier for the day :)

We had worked with Imogen to create a beautifully designed wedding featuring ivory and sahara roses, with lace and bead details.  The bridal flowers were absolutely divine and our table centrepieces (yes Jeremy had all this in his car!) were the same roses set on gold vintage style plates Loraine had found on a trip to London.  The end result as you can see where absolutely divine, a balance between elegant sophistication and the rustic charm of this breathtaking venue.

Imogen emailed us recently

Hi Laura Just wanted to say a big thank you for everything. The venue looked stunning and Loraine did the most beautiful job with the flowers. Thanks again xxx

The adorable flower girl with her mini bouquet has to be my favorite photo, she is too gorgeous for words :)  I also laughed when I saw the final photo of the three wise monkeys!  All stunning, and a huge thank you to Imogen and Lindsay for allowing us to create such a beautiful wedding, to Jeremy for such amazing photos yet again and to Anthony for being one of the most charming people I have ever met.
